about

One of my favorite tunes I have ever written. It came out of a challenge to see if I could write a cool song with just one riff. You can all be the judge of course, but I personally LOVE this track.

I've battled with depression annually since I was about 15 and it always hits me in the late fall early winter. It got really bad while I was in college, I wouldn't even leave my bedroom. I'd get up, get dressed, get ready to go to classes... and would just sit on the edge of my bed for 8 hours. I just stopped functioning, I did the bare minimum to survive. It was weird, and I never want to go back. It was almost like watching your life spin out of control from outside your own body.

Over the last couple years I've managed to fight back and lessen the effects by changing my daily lifestyle. Being truly happy makes you so much stronger. So even though I still withdraw from the world for short bursts of time I always come back with some new energy and fire! I truly believe without music this would not be possible. I can write a sad song to get my thoughts organized, but when I'm done tracking it and it sounds good I can't help but be happy!! As people, we are our own worst enemies, but ultimately there are many things we can do within our power to change our own lives. I believe whether consciously or subconsciously we choose to be wherever and however we are.

The World Outside
- Rock Johnson

Sometimes I hide a little bit
From the world outside
Just don't feel right
Sometimes I hide a lot of pain
From the world outside
Afraid they might see through it

It might be taking over
It might be taking over

Sometimes I fake a smile when I take a hit
From the world outside
Saving pride for spite
Sometimes I hate myself over it
Though the world outside
Would never hear of it

They might be taking over
They might be taking over

Sometimes I deem my self less fortunate
Than the world outside
But it never sticks
Most times I take the ball and run with it
Cause the world outside
Needs me to conquer it

I might be taking over
I might be taking over
